Note
One of the opsin-receptor chimeras (the optoXR family), a new class of in vivo physiology tools. In this case, the intracellular loops of rhodopsin were replaced with those of specific adrenergic receptors by first aligning conserved residues of the Gq-coupled human a1a- adrenergic receptor. The optoXRs select a single active state upon sensing light in a manner dependent on biological context.
