Definition
An ω-hydroxy fatty acid ascaroside obtained by formal condensation of the alcoholic hydroxy group of 8-hydroxyoctanoic acid with ascarylopyranose (the α anomer). It is a metabolite of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans.
