Definition: Interneurons of the spinal cord that arise from the V1 proliferation domain. The CiA neurons inhibit motoneurons, other ventral interneurons and also inhibit dorsal sensory neurons involved in sensory gating. CiA have ipsilateral axonal projections in both motor and sensory regions of spinal cord.
