Term Name: 2-(3-amino-3-carboxypropyl)histidine synthase complex
Synonyms: Dph1-Dph2 complex
Definition: A protein complex capable of catalysing the transfer of the 3-amino-3-carboxypropyl group from S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM) to the histidine residue of translation elongation factor 2 (EF2), which is the first step in the biosynthesis of diphthamide. The complex is a Dph2 homodimer in archaea and a Dph1-Dph2 heterodimer in eukaryotes.
