Definition:	Epithelial progenitor cell of the lung. Clara cells are dome-shaped with short microvilli but no cilia. They function to protect the bronchiolar epithelium. Clara cells also multiply and differentiate into ciliated cells to regenerate the bronchiolar epithelium.
