Name: midbrain hindbrain boundary constriction
Synonyms: MHBC
Definition: A portion of tissue that is the deepest point of the fold of the midbrain hindbrain boundary. In zebrafish the midbrain hindbrain boundary constriction (MHBC) is formed soon after neural tube closure. The MHBC is formed by the bending of the basal side of the neuroepithelium.
Ontology: Anatomy Ontology [ZFA:0007125]
Name: midbrain-hindbrain boundary morphogenesis
Synonyms: isthmus morphogenesis, MHB morphogenesis
Definition: The process in which the anatomical structure of the midbrain-hindbrain boundary is generated and organized. The midbrain-hindbrain domain of the embryonic brain is comprised of the mesencephalic vesicle and the first rhombencephalic vesicle at early somitogenesis stages. An organizing center at the boundary patterns the midbrain and hindbrain primordia of the neural plate.
