- Oates et al. (2001) ZDB-PUB-010912-8 originally classified this gene as an orthologue of mammalian KLF4, based on amino acid sequence homology. A more complete analysis in Kotkamp et al. (2014) ZDB-PUB-131218-14 presented synteny evidence supporting orthology to mammalian KLF17 genes.
