BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH INTERESTS
I have been a member of the zebrafish genome project at the Sanger Institute from its inception in 2001, first leading the manual annotation efforts, then from 2002 the assembly production and analysis. In 2007, together with groups from The Genome Institute at Washington University, the NCBI and the Euoprean Bioinformatics Institute, we formed the Genome Reference Consortium (GRC) and took on the maintenance and improvement of the human and mouse genome reference assemblies. The zebrafish genome is fully integrated into GRC procedures since the release of Zv9 in 2010. We are currently working on the next release, GRCz10.
