Definition: Multicellular structure composed of endodermal cells that forms a continuous rod along the anterior-posterior axis of the embryo in contact with the YSL. This rod will give rise to the endodermal components of the alimentary canal and its connected organs: liver, gall bladder pancreas and swim bladder. Does not have part pharyngeal endoderm.
