Definition: All serially repeated ossified, cartilaginous, and ligamentous elements around the notochord (Schultze and Arratia, 1988). Adult zebrafish usually 32 vertebrae but may have as few as 30 to as many as 33 vertebrae.

Definition: Believed to arise from primitive notochord remnants . Usually occurs along the axial skeleton and is characterised by the presence of bubble cells containing large unstained cytoplasmic vacuoles with central or eccentricc nuclei. Benign but locally invasive. (M-9370/3).
