STATEMENT OF RESEARCH INTERESTS
The Burgess lab uses both zebrafish and budding yeast to study the chromosome events of meiosis, in particular the events leading to the pairing, crossing over, and segregation of homologous chromosome. We use super-resolution microscopy to study the details of chromosome structure and mutants to define the functional components as well as the role of these genes in fertility and checkpoint regulation.
